It’s Time….

28 Oct

Where to begin? Over the course of 48 hours I had a whirl wind experience. I had no idea what to expect when I was asked to be a speaker escort for The Women’s Conference. Although I was secretly hoping to escort Oprah, instead met so many women and a few good men, who have inspired me to make a difference in my life and community.

It’s so powerful to be surrounded by thousands of women who want to make a difference. You can feel the energy and drive in each person. Oprah said something that stuck with me. If you want to change the world all you need to do is inspire a girl, one girl. Women are a driven source that can’t be stopped. We fly faster and stronger together then on our own. “It’s time” was the message over the 2 days. Whether that means going back to school, spending quality time with your kids, not taking no or you can’t for an answer, volunteering, inspiring, mentoring, its Time!

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the day-to-day routine as I and so many often do. I walk away from the Womens conference knowing that I’m going to change my life and make a difference. I can feel it in my being and the crazy thing is that I’ve known it was always there.

I was incredibly moved by many foundations but one that stuck out the most was, The Girl Effect. Please watch the video below….

I’m working on some ideas on how my community can contribute to the Girl Effect. I can guarantee it will have the Modern Hostess touch. 😉 I urge you to do the same in your community. Whether it’s this foundation or something else you are passionate about. You can make a difference.

Thanks again to all my Modern Hostess readers. I love you all!

Cheers!

I think it’s great that you are continuing the message from the conference. I’d be more than happy to help with this cause. Thanks for the inspiration. I’m reminded of my favorite quote “A MODERN-DAY GODDESS IS A WOMAN WHO IS IN TOUCH WITH HER FEMININE, SPIRITUAL, AND JOYFUL SELF. SHE IS A WOMAN OF COURAGE, WHO LISTENS TO HER INTUITION, CREATES AN AUTHENTIC LIFE AND MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD BY HER VERY PRESENCE.” . . . . from modern-day hostess to modern-day goddess:)

Wow Steph, this is powerful! And inspirational… Makes me want to go hug my little girls, then go hug all the other little girls living in poverty… Thank you for sharing…

Rachael, I’m totally doing the same thing. I keep imagining my daughter turning 12 and I couldn’t imagine having to face the reality of what 50 million girls are facing in poverty. It’s time to make a change and bring schools into undeveloped countries to educate children, have them see a doctor regularly, the basics that every human deserves.
